Pantheon Hosting for Custom Drupal and WordPress Sites
HarvardSites is the preferred web publishing platform for most Harvard websites. When a project requires capabilities beyond what HarvardSites can support, custom Drupal or WordPress sites may be considered. Teams should consult with HWP and follow their School or Unit's governance process before pursuing a custom site.
For approved custom projects, Harvard Web Publishing (HWP) maintains a University-wide agreement with Pantheon for vetted Drupal and WordPress hosting.
Any Harvard department or unit that falls "under the auspices of the President & Fellows of Harvard College" are eligible for University-negotiated reduced rates and other benefits:
- Vetted: Harvard terms and contract riders already account for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), GDPR, and accessibility. Pantheon will assess your needs then capture an Order Form that references the Master Service Agreement with Harvard.
- Pricing: Discounted pricing for hosting and value-added services (HarvardKey required).
When you are ready, or if you have additional questions, contact kate.fitzgerald@pantheon.io A member of the Pantheon team will be in touch to assess your needs, discuss your hosting options and determine the best pricing plan for your site.
What the Agreement Does Not Include
- The Pantheon agreement covers managed hosting services. It does not include application development, customization, content management, or ongoing support for your Drupal or WordPress site.
- HWP does not provide dedicated staff to support custom applications hosted on Pantheon. In general, the team or vendor that built the application should also be responsible for supporting and maintaining it over time.
- The business owner of the site remains responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable University policies and requirements, including the Digital Accessibility Policy and other institutional standards.
